A Guide to Irregularities in the 2004 New Mexico General Election 12/19/2004 Help America Recount: "A pattern of incidents and statistical anomalies suggest that the minority vote was
undermined not only at the polls through defective and possibly tampered voting
equipment but also in turnout by means of disenfranchisement by outside partisan
interests, precinct relocation and possibly by registration/absentee exclusion. There is
evidence of false voter drives, disinformation phone calls and fliers that sought to
selectively remove minority voters from rolls and prevent them from voting. There are
several instances in New Mexico of such groups targeting Hispanic and other voters for
voter registration only for the voters to find that there is no record of their registration on
election day [EIRS case #50325, 59172, 59226, 59173, 59276, 59160, 44016, 59282,

Electors across US break traditional pro forma ritual to use electoral college to protest election 12/18/2004 Bellaciao: "Massachusetts Coalition against Election Fraud accomplished having some Electoral College Electors submit a unanimous Motion calling for a complete investigation of this presidential election. We are now working on having United States senators join a group of United States Representatives in not certifying the electoral College vote on January 6."
Call to Action for US Senators Not to Certify the Vote 12/18/2004 Boston IndyMedia: "I am a member of the Massachusetts organization called Coalition against Election Fraud. We are lobbying United States senators asking them not to certify the electoral College vote on January 6. I have attached our form Call to Action together with a news release regarding the electoral College votes cast in Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and California."
Election challenge refiled by activists 12/18/2004 Chicago Tribune: "Voters who claim that problems with Ohio voting machines Nov. 2 indicated fraud refiled a request Friday with Ohio's Supreme Court to overturn the presidential results.
The voters group cites reports of machine errors, double-counting of some ballots and a shortage of voting machines in predominantly minority precincts as reasons to throw out the election results.
The challenge is backed by Jesse Jackson Sr. and Cliff Arnebeck, an Ohio lawyer for the Massachusetts-based Alliance for Democracy, who accused President Bush's campaign of "high-tech vote stealing.""
Ohio vote count battles escalate amidst new evidence of potential criminal activity 12/18/2004 Columbus Free Press: "With court battles escalating, attempts to conduct a meaningful recount have proceeded. Democratic, Green and Libertarian party officials have helped in training volunteers to examine voter records and what to look for as the Ohio vote tally continues. Hundreds of volunteers are observing at election boards around the state trying to get a grasp on what actually happened November 2. Amy Kaplan, head of the Green Party's Franklin County recount, reported to the Free Press that two of the electronic voting machines in Franklin County had faulty cartridges that generated error messages despite being in use on Election Day.
The observers' work has been frustrated and the recount tainted by destroyed records, compromised evidence, and by private vendors who have "re-programmed" machines in both Lucas and Hocking Counties.
Despite his early concession, Kerry has now issued a letter to election boards in all 88 Ohio counties asking a series of questions about the vote count. Thus, charges that Republicans are hiding an outright theft have gained increasing media attention, as have charges that deliberate and illegal destruction of records has been rampant.
Where this will all lead remains unclear. An escalation of court battles is the only certainty. The presidential election of 2004 is by no means over."
States that obstruct votes could lose representation, say Greens 12/18/2004 New Standard: "The Green Party today warned that states could lose political representation at the national level if segments of their voting populations are disenfranchised. Citing a clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, a Party spokesperson said that the US Constitution mandates penalties for voter obstruction."
Feeney implicated in vote fraud 12/18/2004 Seminole Chronicle: "Republican Congressman Tom Feeney of Oviedo asked a computer programmer in September 2000, prior to that year's contested presidential vote in Florida, to write software that could alter vote totals on touch-screen voting machines, the programmer said."

Rep. Conyers Seeks Federal Inquiry into Ohio Voting 12/17/2004 Buzzflash: "On December 13, my staff met with Ms. Eaton who explained to them that last Friday, December 10, Michael Barbian, Jr., a representative of Triad GSI unilaterally sought and obtained access to the voting machinery and records in Hocking County, Ohio, modified the computer tabulator, learned which precinct was planned to be the subject of the initial test recount and made further alterations based on that information, and advised the election officials how to manipulate the machinery so that the preliminary hand recount matched the machine count. Ms. Eaton first relayed this information to Green Party representatives, and then completed, signed and notarized an affidavit describing this course of events, a copy of which is attached… Third, it is important to recognize that the companies implicated in the wrongdoing, Triad and its affiliates, are the leading suppliers of voting machines involving the counting of paper ballots and punch cards in the critical states of Ohio and Florida. Triad is controlled by the Rapp family, and its founder Tod A. Rapp has been a consistent contributor to Republican causes.4 A Triad affiliate, Psephos Corporation, supplied the notorious butterfly ballot used in Palm Beach County, Florida, in the 2000 presidential election."
Kerry/Edwards urge Blackwell to investigate voting machine tampering allegations 12/17/2004 Raw Story: "The letter, which was sent Wednesday, also asks that Blackwell require hand counts in any county where machines have been compromised, or have an independent expert inspect the machines. Hocking County elections official Sherole Eaton alleged that a Triad Election Systems representative disabled a machine and tried to plant unverified information into the recount at the House Judiciary Committee's election hearing Monday."
Welcome to USCountVotes 12/17/2004 USCountVotes.org: "A group of independent mathematicians, statisticians and computer professionals has formed a new, volunteer scientific research project to objectively investigate the accuracy of elections in America."

Republicans to sue King County over 573 ballots 12/16/2004 AP: "The closest governor's election in state history is sparking yet another lawsuit, as Republicans try to prevent King County from including 573 newly discovered ballots in the hand recount."
Return of the hanging chad: Recount continues in Ohio 12/16/2004 AP: "Also yesterday, Representative John Conyers of Michigan, a senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, urged the FBI to investigate possible election tampering in Hocking County involving an employee of TRIAD Governmental Systems Inc., the company that wrote the voting software used in 41 of Ohio's counties.
According to a sworn statement from Sherole Eaton, the county's deputy director of elections, a TRIAD representative told her on Friday he wanted to inspect the county's tabulating machine. She said the employee then told her that ''the battery in the computer was dead and that the stored information was gone."
''He proceeded to take the computer apart and call his office to get information to input into our computer," Eaton said.
Conyers said similar TRIAD visits have been reported in other Ohio counties."

Ask Senator Boxer to Contest the Vote 12/16/2004 Contest the vote: "According to the Electoral Count Act of 1887, one senator and one House Representative are required to contest an election prior to inauguration. We have the representatives. We still need a senator. Let Senator Boxer know that we want her to be that senator by signing our petition. The signed petitions will be delivered to her in person by a coalition of representatives from a variety of concerned organizations and individuals."

Ohio judge tosses election case in which his election is challenged 12/16/2004 Raw Story: "Ohio Supreme Court Justice Thomas J. Moyer, who ran on the Bush-Cheney ticket, declined to recuse himself from a case in which he is also one of the named parties, RAW STORY has discovered.
The case, filed by 40 Ohio citizens, alleged fraud in the state’s presidential election and the election of the Chief Justice—Moyer. Moyer threw out the challenge Thursday, saying, “Ohio law allows only one race to be challenged in a single complaint.”
RAW STORY spoke with two separate legal experts not associated with the case who declined to be named for concern of their professional careers. A leading Ohio attorney said that “he had never heard of such a case, but even if this law exists somewhere, several ethical codes are most certainly and directly violated.” "
New SAT Questions Replace Evolution with Creation 12/16/2004 Swift Report: "The revision, says College Board spokesman Lester McCue, is a reflection of the changing nature of science content being taught in high schools around the country. "The SAT has to keep up with these changes or risk being left behind. We can't test kids on material that they are not being taught," says McCue. "In the past, we've evaluated students' ability to comprehend passages about historical scientific events, and while we'll continue to do that, the test now assumes that the world is 6,000 years old as opposed to hundreds of millions of years old." The UN says they will stay for at least two months before handing control to local police.
Cite Soleil is a stronghold of the former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's supporters, and often witnesses factional violence.
Dozens of people are said to have been killed since fighting increased in early September in the area, home to 500,000 people."

Get a Senator or a media personality or anyone of very high profile to come out about this. The media blackout is killing us. U.S. fears Iranian influence in Iraqi elections 12/15/2004 MSNBC: "But as Iraqis register to vote, the United States worries that the real winners could be the ayatollahs in neighboring Iran. U.S. intelligence sources tell NBC News that 1 million Iranians have already poured across the border to register to vote in Iraq. And Iran is spending as much as $100 million to elect its favored slate of candidates in Iraq — and may have thousands of spies in Iraq." Fascist smears against Gary Webb continue even in death 12/15/2004 SF Bay View: "News of former journalist Gary Webb’s death began to circulate on the Internet Sunday. Ohio Recount activist run off the road 12/14/2004 Bellacio: at the bottom - "Each encouraging word is like a block of strength right now. Last night I was returning from Columbus and was scared out of my mind. First I’ve been getting calls from a man that has been able to tell me each and every place I’ve been or roads I’ve been traveling on (a group of 3 other women heard this while driving me to meet Jesse Jackson and Cliff Arnebeck last night, having the call on speaker). Then while driving back I was ran off the road by two dark blue Suburbans(?), bigger than 4 runners anyway, with dark tinted windows. They came up behind me with their brights on and then one came to the side of me and ran me into the ditch off I-70. I saw as they sped away that one had a Maryland license plate, but in the heat of it all I couldn’t get the plate number or even see the plate of the other one. It’s becoming apparent to me that someone is not liking what I’m doing. So thank you much cause I truly need the encouraging words."

Haiti is Unraveling and No One is Saying Anything 12/14/2004 Counterpunch: "Surprisingly, not even Annan's personal representative in the country, the highly regarded Chilean diplomat Juan Gabriel Valdés, has vigorously condemned Latortue and his cronies. To the contrary, Annan and his aides have bestowed a modicum of undeserved political legitimacy on the new government by acquiescing, at every step, to Secretary Powell's see-no-evil policy regarding the egregious excesses of the Latortue regime and its multiple sins of omission. Annan has shown little intent to protect the legitimacy of the constitutional process nor has he insisted that Aristide be accorded the respect due to a democratically-elected president. Annan also joined Powell in demanding that Aristide negotiate with the opposition (to which Aristide willingly agreed), thereby eventually hoodwinking the former President into exile. Nor did Annan raise questions regarding Aristide's imposed successor, the expatriate Latortue, who later was to pathetically describe those who Powell earlier had labeled "thugs," as "freedom fighters." Of course, these were the same "freedom fighters" who terrorized the countryside during General Raoul Cedras' 1991-1994 military regime, and were responsible for upwards of 5,000 civilian deaths."

Recounting Without Paper Trails 12/14/2004 Vote Cobb: "Rep. John Conyers, who is leading the Congressional investigations in Ohio, needs your help now. He is asking for one million emails from the American public demanding that the House Judiciary Committee hold full hearings on the 2004 Election.
Full hearings are essential, because that will give the Committee subpoena powers — until now, Blackwell and others have been able to simply ignore Rep. Conyers' demands for information — because the GOP Committee Chairman has refused to convene a full hearing. YOU can change that. Send your message now! Tell a friend to write an email, too."
Ohio Revised Code 12/14/2004 Yurica Report: "Ohio Revised Code Title XXXV Elections, Sec. 3503.26 that requires all election records to be made available for public inspection and copying. ORC Sec. 3599.161 makes it a crime for any employee of the Board of Elections to knowingly prevent or prohibit any person from inspecting the public records filed in the office of the Board of Elections. Finally, ORC Sec. 3599.42 clearly states: “A violation of any provision of Title XXXV (35) of the Revised Code constitutes a prima facie case of election fraud within the purview of such Title.”"

Kerry Lawyer Seeks Ohio Ballot Inspection 12/13/2004 AP: "Democrat John Kerry is asking county elections officials to allow his witnesses to inspect the 92,000 ballots cast in Ohio in which no vote for president was recorded, a Kerry lawyer said Sunday night.
The request is one of 11 the Kerry campaign made in a letter sent over the weekend to Ohio's 88 county boards of election, which will begin recounting presidential ballots this week.
"We're trying to increase the transparency of the election process," said Donald McTigue, the lawyer handling the recount for the Kerry campaign. But he added that several requests - such as using independent experts to check election equipment, "are trying to push the edge of envelope.""
Members of Massachusetts electoral college decry voting troubles 12/13/2004 AP: "Moments after casting their votes for the man they hoped would be president, members of the Electoral College in John Kerry's home state vented their frustration with an election they say was marred by voter intimidation and fraud.
Some of the Bay State's 12 electors, including die-hard Kerry backers, said they believe Kerry would have won the election if not for what they said was a pattern of intimidation targeting Democratic voters. Others said they just wanted to ensure fewer problems next time around."

Cobb Testifies Before Congressional Forum in Ohio 12/13/2004 Cobb LaMarche: "Cobb said that his campaign is seeking a recount because of the widespread and documented reports of voter suppression and intimidation in Ohio and the unexplained malfunctioning of electronic voting machines. Cobb also revealed a shocking allegation of new evidence of intentional tampering with voting machines. Representative John Conyers, the chair of the forum, reacted immediately and the matter is now under investigation."
Startling new revelations highlight rare Congressional hearings on Ohio vote 12/13/2004 Columbus Free Press: "Startling new revelations about Ohio's presidential vote have been uncovered as Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee join Rev. Jesse Jackson in Columbus, the state capital, on Monday, Dec. 13, to hold a rare field hearing into election malfeasance and manipulation in the 2004 vote. The Congressional delegation will include Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, and others.
Taken together, the revelations show Republicans – in state and county government, and in the Ohio Republican Party – were determined to undermine and suppress Democratic turnout by a wide variety of methods."

Some voters holding out hope for Kerry victory 12/13/2004 LA Times: "COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Clifford Arnebeck won't let it go. He can't let it go. Not, he says, while America refuses to recognize that John F. Kerry was elected president Nov. 2.
Arnebeck, a Democratic lawyer here and co-chair of a self-styled national populist alliance, is petitioning the state's highest court to throw out official results that favor President Bush and instead hand Ohio's 20 electoral votes --- and thus the White House -- to Kerry. Or, at least, order a revote."

Controversial U.S. Groups Operate Behind Scenes on Iraq Vote 12/13/2004 New Standard: "But in actuality, influential, US-financed agencies describing themselves as "pro-democracy" but viewed by critics as decidedly anti-democratic, have their hands all over Iraq’s transitional process, from the formation of political parties to monitoring the January 30 nationwide polls and possibly conducting exit polls that could be used to evaluate the fairness of the ballot-casting.
Campbell estimated that NDI’s contributions are probably disproportionately helpful to the more obscure, less experienced Iraqi parties.
Two such groups -- the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) -- are part of a consortium of non-governmental organizations to which the United States has provided over $80 million for political and electoral activities in post-Saddam Iraq.
Both groups publicly assert they are nonpartisan, but each has extremely close ties to its namesake American political party, and both are deeply partial to the perceived national interests of their home country, despite substantial involvement in the politics of numerous sovereign nations worldwide." [these groups were also heavily involved in the Ukraine]
In Memoriam: Gary Webb 12/13/2004 Peter Dale Scott: "Gary Webb, Pulitzer Prize winner, died last week in what was pretty clearly a suicide. Even if he pulled the trigger of the gun that killed him, he was still a victim punished unjustly for his pursuit of the truth.
It is clear that anyone who has dared to speak out about the CIA and the drug traffic has risked losing his job. In like fashion Celerino Castillo was eased out of DEA, and Robert Parry lost his job at AP. When Gary was absurdly abused by a pack of attack dogs at the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Washington Post, Gary’s editors at the San Jose Mercury-Tribune failed to stand by him; and in the end virtually they forced him off the paper by reassigning him to a trivial suburban post.
The guilty consciences of the major newspapers is reflected now in the demeaning obituaries they have written about him. Gary’s treatment of the CIA-drug story was not flawless; no one’s is or can be. But he deserved far better than he got; and it is the other journalists who attacked him who should now hang their heads in shame."
Director of firm that was paid to repair Florida’s voting list which disenfranchised African Americans has apartheid ties 12/13/2004 Raw Story: "A lead director of the company hired by Florida to fix the state’s controversial felon voting rolls is also chairman of a company many regard as a former pillar of South African apartheid, RAW STORY has discovered.
Since joining the board of African mining conglomerate Anglo American plc a year ago, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart has sought to fend off class-action lawsuits from laborers and Africans who allege the company played a major role in propping up South Africa’s former apartheid government.
Moody-Stuart is lead external director of Accenture, the Arthur Anderson spinoff, which Florida hired to repair issues of eligibility the state’s central voting list. The list disenfranchised thousands of voters—many of them African American—in the 2000 presidential election cycle."
Witness says voting company tampered with machines after vote and tried to plant false information into Ohio recount 12/13/2004 Raw Story: "David Cobb, the unsuccessful Green Party presidential candidate, aired startling allegations at the Democratic House Judiciary Committee’s Columbus hearings Monday, alleging that a voting company representative tampered with voting equipment in Columbus last Friday and attempted to plant false information into the Ohio recount.
Cobb says that a witness who had requested anonymity watched a representative of Triad Systems enter the Columbus Board of Elections unannounced and tamper with a vote tabulator which then lost all data."
