NY: Group rallies at the Capitol 12/12/2004 Capital News 9: "Activists from multiple Democratic and Green Party groups gathered on the steps of the Capitol Sunday to demand a ballot recount in Ohio.
Bill Kelsey said, "The purpose of our demonstration is to support the efforts in Ohio, to get the Ohio vote recounted. We feel that there's gross fraud in this election, and we need to get a true counting of what happened out there.""
Strange and suspicious behavior regarding the election and recounts from Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell 12/12/2004 Elites TV: "On December 8th, Former Congressman Dan Hamburg was arrested while attempting to deliver a letter to Blackwell from the US House Judiciary Committee with questions about the election.
Two days later, Secretary Blackwell issued a surprise executive order stopping the recording of voting information from several minority precincts in Greene County. Two volunteers, Joan Quinn and Eve Roberson, two certified election volunteers, were hand-copying voter discrepancies from precinct voting books on behalf of Green candidate Mr. Cobb and Libertarian candidate Badnarick, who were the original requestors of the Ohio recount. Blackwell's order goes further and specifies that the voting records are to be locked down and declares that they are 'not public'."
Send No Messengers of Defeat: The Texas Capitol Rally 12/12/2004 ILCA: "“Today across the country a citizen uprising begins,” says Kip Humphrey, giving the first speech of his life, under a pure blue sky in Texas. It is the day before the Electoral College meets, and Humphrey is here to demonstrate his anger and disappointment with the way that election 2004 has gone down.
Just two weeks ago Humphrey and his son set up a website called 51 Capital March dot com and, using internet chain-mails, began asking folks to make signs and show up at their state capitols. When I show up to the rally in Austin around Sunday noon (with a notebook instead of a sign) a young woman hands me a white button with slim black letters that say, “I Showed Up.”"
Protesters Allege Voter Fraud 12/12/2004 WKOW: "Thousands of people across the country and in Madison gathered today to say "you stole my vote."
The 'You Stole My Vote' 51 Capitol March took place on the Capitol steps. The group protested what they call the theft of their votes and our voting rights in the the past election. One protester said that many people don't realize not all the votes were counted."

Voting Rights Groups 'Block' Talk of Machine-Free Elections 12/11/2004 Dissident Voice: "So much for a free and fair exchange of ideas. At conferences and hearings across the country, traditional voting rights organizations have successfully blocked any serious debate on machine-free, paper-only elections. It appears that our well-entrenched so-called 'voting rights' organizations, including the NAACP and ACLU, haven't absorbed the lesson from America's election debacles. They would rather invite the industry-funded National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) to speak at their conferences, than invite researchers and activists who will argue that the machines must go."

Doubts Persist About Election Results 12/10/2004 AP: "But that is not stopping a disparate assortment of personalities prominent among them Democratic congressman John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and presidential candidates of the Green and Libertarian parties from questioning the accuracy of certified results and demanding investigations.
Of greatest concern is the extent of disenfranchisement in the critical swing state of Ohio, whose 20 electoral votes guaranteed Bush's victory."
Zogby insists polls were "very, very good, extremely accurate" 12/10/2004 CNS: "Pollster John Zogby Thursday defended his company's participation in a left wing forum on Capitol Hill where liberal special interest groups and Democratic House members alleged that the 2004 election had been marred by fraud and malfunctioning voting machines.
And while Zogby erroneously cast Democrat John Kerry as the winner of the presidential election in his Election Day projection, the pollster insisted Thursday that his polling in the just completed presidential cycle was "very, very good."
Election 2004's Myths & Mysteries 12/10/2004 Consortium News: "Many political pundits have put forth the explanation that Evangelical voters assured Bush a second term because they see him as the defender of moral “values.”
But this conventional narrative can’t fully account for Bush’s 2004 vote. No less an expert than Bush’s political guru Karl Rove estimated that 4 million Evangelical voters stayed home in 2000, meaning that even if they all voted in 2004 for Bush, that would still leave more than 7 million votes to explain.
Plus, think back on Election 2000 when the Republican base was burning with a fierce determination to oust the hated Clinton-Gore crowd. Why would millions of Republican voters stay home in 2000, yet flood the polling places in 2004 despite the discouraging results of Bush’s first term and the turnout enthusiasm on the Democratic side?
Yet, instead of working to make sense of Bush’s vote totals and examining the extraordinary outcome on a county-by-county basis, the mainstream news media has mostly dismissed questions of voting fraud as Internet-driven “conspiracy theories.”"

Vote Fraud As Fundraiser - Cobb and the Ohio Recount 12/9/2004 Counterpunch: "For starters, Cobb's name did not even appear on the ballot in Ohio, yet his team is the driving force behind Ohio's 88 county recount. Too bad Cobb didn't put this amount of energy into his own 2004 campaign. But for anyone who paid even the slightest bit of attention to the Greens this past election season, it should come as no surprise that Cobb's actions serve the interest of the Democratic Party once again."

Congresswoman Tubbs Jones Releases Statement on Ohio Voting Irregularities Forum 12/8/2004 Office of Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones: ""Today you will hear from voters and election day observers who will provide testimonies of confused and overwhelmed Poll workers, individuals waiting in the pouring rain for hours and hours as well instances of voting machine failures. Even with a diligent preparation effort, the infrastructure of the Board of Elections was stretched to capacity and beyond. The nexus between inadequate Poll worker training and an alarmingly high Provisional ballot rejection rate of 34% overall and as high as 51% in the City of Cleveland warrants careful study. To probe these and other data related questions I commend the work of the Greater Cleveland Voter Registration Coalition as being both reliable and truly independent.
"The flurry of lawsuits in the months and days leading up to, including, and following Election Day have all of us -- voters and election officials alike -- living in a kind of purple haze reality. Election related cases focused on: the distribution and access to Provisional ballots, the role of Poll challengers, the paper weight of the voter registration form, the responsibility to inform ex-offenders of their right to vote and now the Recount cases.
"The appropriateness and even the legality of individuals simultaneously holding top policy and political positions must also be the subject of serious review. Secretary of State and chief elections officer, Kenneth Blackwell, also served as Ohio's Co-Chair for the re-election of the Bush Cheney ticket. Cuyahoga County Board of Elections Chair, Robert Bennett, is also the Chair of the Ohio Republican Party."
Whitewashing torture? 12/8/2004 Salon: "A veteran sergeant who told his commanding officers that he witnessed his colleagues torturing Iraqi detainees was strapped to a gurney and flown out of Iraq -- even though there was nothing wrong with him."

Support the critical recount in Washington State 12/2/2004 MoveOn.org: "Only 42 votes separate Democrat Christine Gregoire from her Republican challenger for the governor's seat — a Republican lead that could easily be erased if every vote gets counted. There are thousands of uncounted votes, voters who were inexplicably purged from the rolls, and the possibility of error in the voting machine tallies. For a statewide hand recount to proceed, Gregoire has to put up a deposit of $750,000 by TONIGHT, against a total recount cost expected to exceed $1 million. Your generous contribution can help make sure every vote gets counted. Any funds raised beyond what Gregoire needs will be used to support recounts and vote investigations in other states, including OH, NM, NV, and FL. Please donate now."

Something's fishy in Ohio 12/1/2004 Chicago Sun Times: "In Ohio, a court just ruled there can't be a recount yet, because the vote is not yet counted. It's three weeks after the election, and Ohio still hasn't counted the votes and certified the election. Some 93,000 overvotes and undervotes are not counted; 155,000 provisional ballots are only now being counted. Absentee ballots cast in the two days prior to the election haven't been counted.
Ohio determines the election, but the state has not yet counted the vote. That outrage is made intolerable by the fact that the secretary of state in charge of this operation, Ken Blackwell, holds -- like Katherine Harris of Florida's fiasco in 2000 -- a dual role: secretary of state with control over voting procedures and co-chair of George Bush's Ohio campaign. Blackwell should recuse himself so that a thorough investigation, count and recount of Ohio's vote can be made."
Former Bush campaign official indicted 12/1/2004 CNET: "Internet DoS attacks, which overload a Web site's servers and cause them to be temporarily inaccessible, have targeted everything from Whitehouse.gov to the SCO Group and eBay.
Now James Tobin, who was the top Bush campaign official for New England and formerly the Republican National Committee's regional director, is being accused of mounting a similar kind of attack on the phone networks of five Democratic Party offices during the November 2002 election."

FOXNews.com, Chicago Sun-Times deleted connection between Ohio official, Bush campaign from AP story 12/1/2004 Media Matters: "In a November 30 article titled "Nearly a Month Later, Ohio Fight Goes On," detailing the controversy in Ohio over the results of the November 2 election, the Associated Press correctly identified J. Kenneth Blackwell -- who, as Ohio's secretary of state, oversees the election process -- as "a co-chairman of Bush's re-election campaign in Ohio." Ohio tally fit for Ukraine 11/30/2004 NY Daily News: "And now Daily News reporter Larry Cohler-Esses and I have uncovered some more unusual vote totals, this time in black neighborhoods of Cleveland. Those results are from the precinct-by-precinct tallies released by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, where Cleveland is located.
In the 4th Ward on Cleveland's East Side, for example, two fringe presidential candidates did surprisingly well.
In precinct 4F, located at Benedictine High School on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Kerry received 290 votes, Bush 21 and Michael Peroutka, candidate of the ultra-conservative anti-immigrant Constitutional Party, an amazing 215 votes!
That many black votes for Peroutka is about as likely as all those Jewish votes for Buchanan in Florida's Palm Beach County in 2000… If this same pattern held true in other cities around Ohio, then quite possibly thousands of votes meant for Kerry somehow ended up in the tallies of the two independent candidates. So far, however, precinct-by-precinct results have not been posted by boards of elections in other counties, but by Thursday all official results are due.
On Monday, Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell will certify Ohio's results and then a manual recount will be requested by the Green and Libertarian parties.
The Badnarik and Peroutka surge was not the only unusual occurrence in Cleveland.
Also unusual was the drop in the Democratic vote in scores of precincts compared to 2000. But more on that next time. Voting Machines Count Backwards in Okla. 11/29/2004 Oklahoma Independent Media Center: "That looks like what the secretly programmed machines did for Sen. Kerry in President Bush's easily won Presidential Election victory in Oklahoma.
All 77 counties use the Optech Eagle voting machines and Tabulator's made by ES&S, Sen Hagel's republican company.
The respectable, conservative "Tulsa World" newspaper reported Nov 3rd that Kerry was winning in 57 of the states's rural counties., with 70% of the vote counted. Turns out that the famous November 3rd report was probably not supposed to be printed.
It represented the counting when the tabulating was about 70% "complete," as they used to say in the old Soviet Union."
