Marco RubioA Republican US Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, aka "Narco" Rubio, is steeped in the drug trade, from family connections to his alliance with narco politicians such as former president Uribe and current president Duque of Colombia. The Colombian, Central American and Mexican cartels are mostly under the control of the US and are major dealers in death for afrodescendant and indigenous communities in their respective countries and in the US, where the crack epidemic started by CIA has been devastating. Marco Rubio gets substantial funding from the Cuban plantocracy in exile, especially Big Sugar, the Fanjul brothers who own Domino Sugar and the bulk of the US sugar industry. When Rubio ran for president in 2015, right wing opponents gave us some good details on this relationship in the National Review and the Washington Examiner. He has recently jumped on the highly racist anti-woke bandwagon, showing his true inclinations. Americans Demand Freedom from Woke Ideology 2/2/2023 Marco Rubio: "That’s why I am reintroducing eight bills to protect the American people from radical woke activism in all its forms. If we become a country where left-wing protestors are exempt from the law, Wall Street wields investors’ dollars as a weapon against conservatives, and the U.S. government undermines the national interest, we won’t last long. Common-sense policymakers have a duty to hold elites accountable and prevent wokeness from turning the land of the free into another Cuba, Venezuela, or Nicaragua." Marco Rubio's Ties to a Drug-Smuggling Brother-in-Law Were Closer Than Advertised 10/26/2016 Miami New Times: "Tabraue was a violent piece of work. In 1980, his crew murdered a federal agent, Larry Nash, and Tabraue tried to hack him to pieces with a machete before giving up and letting his cronies use a circular saw instead. He was also charged with ordering a brutal hit on his first wife, who was shot nine times. But he beat that case at trial. "Mario was absolutely ruthless," says Fisten, who investigated the hit on Tabraue's wife. "He had hired killers working for him all over South Florida."" Major Trump supporter tied to Klan leadership 10/3/2016 Daily Kos: "Billionaire sugar baron Pepe Fanjul’s executive assistant, Chloe Black, is a fundraiser for Republican candidates such as Rubio and Donald Trump. She has worked for the Fanjul’s for over 35 years and is a powerful player in the secretive big sugar empire of the Fanjul family. She is the ex-wife of former KKK leader David Duke, and the current wife of Don Black, a former KKK grand wizard and member of the American Nazi Party. He now runs white-supremacist website StormFront.org."
Marco Rubio’s Billion-Dollar Sugar Addiction 11/13/2015 National
Review: "Writing for National Review, Windsor Mann was among those stumped
by Rubio’s logic. “Let’s try to untangle this,” he wrote following Rubio’s
remarks. “If we get rid of sugar subsidies, Americans will turn their
sugar farms into condominium lots and start buying sugar from foreigners,
who will starve us until we surrender to ISIS. Or something like that.”
“We have as much reason to grow our own sugar as Lithuania does to make
its own cars: none,” Mann added. “The fact is that other countries produce
certain things more cheaply and efficiently than we do. That is why we
trade with them.”" |

Rubio Releases Anti-woke Agenda for the 118th Congress 2/2/2023 Marco
Rubio: "Restoring Military Focus Act. First introduced in November 2022, this
legislation would eliminate the position of Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) within
the DOD and prohibit federal funds from being used to establish any similar
office. Senators Jim Risch (R-ID), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Ted
Cruz (R-TX), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and James Lankford (R-OK) are cosponsors.
Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced companion legislation in the House.
Protecting Students From Racial Hostility Act. First introduced in July 2021,
this legislation would protect students from racially-hostile school
environments created by the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) by directing
the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights to enforce Title VI
protections of the Civil Rights Act when a parent or student impacted by CRT
submits a complaint. Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) is a cosponsor."
Rubio urges U.S. to deny request for undersea internet cable connecting Miami
and Cuba 12/14/2022 MSN - Miami Herald: "Team Telecom also noted that
ETECSA could misroute traffic destined for places outside Cuba and reroute it
“over this cable into Cuban territory and the Cuban government’s hands.” The
committee also referred to well-documented censorship practices by ETECSA,
including censoring specific words and phrases and blocking internet services
during anti-government protests in 2021."
Marco Rubio Redbaits Cuban-American Activists Protesting U.S. Sanctions in Miami 10/27/2022 Belly
of The Beast Cuba, YouTube: "Miami is known as the bastion of Cuban-American
hardliners. But many in Miami don't support U.S. sanctions on Cuba. Every month
Cuban-American activists gather to call for an end to the embargo and better
relations with Cuba. Their message of reconciliation has angered pro-embargo
politicians like Marco Rubio, who has called for an F.B.I. investigation."
Tammy Baldwin, who is gay, confronted Marco Rubio about calling same-sex
marriage vote a 'stupid waste of time' 7/21/2022 CNN: "As he was walking on
an elevator on Wednesday, GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida told CNN that a vote
on a bill to codify same-sex marriage was a "stupid waste of time." But when he
said that, there was another senator on the elevator who heard him: Sen. Tammy
Baldwin, the Wisconsin Democrat who is also the first known gay politician
elected to the US Senate."
Five Years after Trump’s 243 Measures: A Blockade that Some Say Does not Exist 6/18/2022 Resumen: "During
the years of Trump’s presidency, it was very common in the United States to see
the eccentric president being accompanied by two or three Cuban
counterrevolutionaries anchored in Florida, as well as a similar number of
politicians, those who have lined their pockets with dollars by living off the
anti-Cuban policy. Marco Rubio and Mario Diaz-Balart flanked him, five years ago
today, when the erratic President dusted off the Cold War rhetoric and tightened
the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba."
Rubio-Demings Florida Senate battle puts crime and policing front and center 6/17/2022 Fox
News: "But Rubio and the head of the 24-thousand member Florida State Fraternal
Order of Police, which on Friday endorsed Rubio at an event in Orlando, took aim
at Demings for her 2020 comment regarding a proposal — which a year later was
defeated — to defund and transform the Minneapolis, Minnesota, police department
in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, a Black man, by a white police
officer. And they also criticized Demings for her past support for overhauling
qualified immunity, a legal doctrine that protects police officers against
lawsuits over what they do on the beat, but that critics charge shields law
enforcement from accountability."
Why a Dem dream candidate can't touch Rubio in Florida 6/11/2022 Politico: "“This
is my race. And this race is between Marco Rubio and me,” Demings said in an
interview. “I know Marco wants me to focus on the president’s approval ratings.
I can control what I’m doing. I can’t control the president’s approval ratings.”
Yet as a sign of how gloomy Florida looks for Democrats, neither the Democratic
Senatorial Campaign Committee nor a super PAC that backs Senate Democrats has
reserved any ad time in the state. Demings may not get any measurable help in a
state that may be slipping away from her party. She’s now focusing on two issues
in the hopes of energizing voters, though political advisers warn it may be a
losing proposition. It’s another sign that the key Senate race may be out of
reach for Democrats, further jeopardizing the party’s control of Congress.
Demings has started to hammer Rubio over gun control and abortion in an effort
to turn the tide in a race where polls have shown her trailing the two-term
Republican. She has spent time in recent campaign stops highlighting Rubio’s
opposition to abortion after the disclosure of the Supreme Court’s initial draft
opinion overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision."
RIGHT WING EXTREMISM ‘Who Would Jesus Exclude?’: Rubio Mocked for Kicking Off
Pride Month With Claim About Biden’s ‘Radical’ LGBTQ Policies 6/1/2022 New
Civil Rights Movement: "“Biden will be cutting off Pell Grants, school lunches &
billions of other federal education dollars to any school or college that
refuses to follow his new & radical transgender & LGBT policies,” Sen. Rubio
tweeted, apparently unaware the “T” in LGBT stands for transgender. The
executive branch has the constitutional responsibility to enforce federal laws,
including civil rights laws, and the authority to set and enforce policy and tie
it to federal funds."
Kinzinger Rips Rubio for Saying Aim of Jan. 6 Probe to 'Harass' Republicans 2/6/2022 Newsweek: "Rubio
responded by asserting that those who committed crimes during the attack on the
Capitol should be prosecuted. However, he slammed the House select committee
probing the events of that day. "This commission is a partisan scam. The purpose
of that commission is to try to embarrass and smear and harass as many
Republicans as they can get their hands on," the Florida lawmaker said."
Marco Rubio Met With Far-Right Chilean Candidate Tied to Military Dictatorship 12/1/2021 Intercept: "Kast’s
family has deep ties to the dictatorship. His father, Michael Kast, was a
lieutenant in the Nazi army before fleeing to Chile and raising sons who shared
his far-right politics. One son, Miguel Kast, was appointed by Pinochet to be
minister of labor and then president of the central bank. He was one of the
so-called Chicago Boys, a collection of young economists trained by Milton
Friedman, set loose on Chile to launch a neoliberal experiment that saw social
spending slashed and wealth funneled upward to the very rich. Christian Kast,
according to journalist Javier Rebolledo’s book “A La Sombra De Los Cuervos,”
was linked to peasant massacres under Pinochet, and José Antonio Kast campaigned
against the the plebiscite that rewrote the Chilean Constitution and paved the
way for Pinochet’s removal."
Marco Rubio attack ad likens Val Demings to the ‘socialist Squad’ 8/24/2021 Florida
Politics: "In a June 9 campaign video accompanying the announcement, she cited
her role as an impeachment manager in former President Donald Trump‘s first
impeachment trial. “We brought law and order to a lawless President,” she said
in a video accompanying her campaign launch, which depicted Rubio as an
entrenched and complacent Washington insider. Rubio voted against impeaching
Trump, both times."
GOP megadonors flock to Tim Scott, building 2024 buzz 8/9/2021 Politico: "Ellison
invested heavily in the 2016 GOP primary, directing $5 million to a super PAC
aligned with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Now, it’s the Scott team that’s pursuing
the Oracle co-founder, who according to Forbes is the seventh-richest person in
the world, with a net worth of $116 billion."
Georgia’s racist voting law, not Coke or Delta, is the problem, Sen. Rubio — so
are you 4/3/2021 Miami Herald: "Florida Sen. Marco Rubio lashed out
Thursday at Delta and Coca-Cola for daring — finally — to speak out against the
restrictive Georgia law that makes it harder for people to vote. In a Twitter
video, he criticized the two high-profile Georgia companies for ties to China
and tried to get a “woke corporate hypocrites” hashtag trending. But he’s just
trying to distract you. This isn’t about the corporations. It’s about a terrible
law, a blatant attempt by Republicans trying to control the voting process in
Georgia. They stoop so low in the law that they even prohibit giving water to
voters waiting in line."

Rubio makes for the 'burbs to boost Georgia Senate runoff contenders 11/11/2020 Atlanta
Journal Constitution
Why Trump is focused on making Marco Rubio happy 8/3/2020 Politico: "Rubio
has effectively become secretary of State for Latin America, according to
interviews with more than a dozen former White House and State Department
officials and current Republican lawmakers, aides and analysts. The
administration has learned to seek his blessing on key hires related to the
region, and the president routinely solicits his input on new policy
initiatives."
Sen. Marco Rubio criticized for confusing John Lewis, Elijah Cummings in
remembrance 7/18/2020 USA Today: "Rubio had also changed his Twitter
profile picture to an image of him and Cummings, but after criticism on social
media, changed the picture to one of him and Lewis."
Hong Kong’s ‘Pro-Democracy’ Movement Allies with US Politicians Who Seek to
Crush Black Lives Matter 6/10/2020 Consortium News: "Hong Kong’s
“pro-democracy” activists have gone so far as to derail the efforts of an
African-American woman who attempted to organize a Black Lives Matter
demonstration in the city, accusing her of being an agent of the police and
Communist Party of China." … Leaders of Hong Kong’s opposition like Wong have
spent years cultivating close relationships some of the most hawkish figures in
Washington. Their most vociferous allies include far-right Republican Senators
Ted Cruz Josh Hawley, Marco Rubio, and Rick Scott, and Tom Cotton, who recently
called for a U.S. Military crackdown on Black Lives Matter protests."
Marco Rubio called them ‘extremists.’ They’re really Miami rappers. They want a
retraction. 6/10/2020 Miami Herald: "When cops arrested Marco Antonio Lopez
on allegations that he vandalized patrol cars during a protest in downtown
Miami, the arrest report noted he was part of a group known as the “Southern
Slaves,” which “actively recruits people to violently protest the government.”
That drew the attention of U.S. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who tweeted the arrest
was evidence of “extremist groups” organizing to cause mayhem at protests over
the death of George Floyd and police brutality. But the Southern Slaves aren’t
an extremist group. And they are not monitored by the FBI or listed by
hate-group trackers like the Anti-Defamation League or the Southern Poverty Law
Center. They’re a group of aspiring hip-hop musicians from Miami’s Flagami
neighborhood, buddies uploading their music online, doing shows at open-mic
nights and spreading a message of what they consider government overreach.
“We’re not terrorists. We love America. What we don’t love is systematic
oppression and police brutality,” said Alonzo Martinez, 23, whose stage name is
“Zo The Atlantean.”"
Marco Rubio tapped to serve as Senate Intelligence Committee chairman 5/18/2020 Politico: "Sen.
Marco Rubio will temporarily serve as chairman of the Senate Intelligence
Committee, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Monday. The Florida
Republican’s appointment as interim chairman of the panel comes after Sen.
Richard Burr (R-N.C.) last week informed Senate leadership that he would step
aside as chairman while he faces an FBI investigation into his stock trades."
Marco Rubio's final humiliation: Supreme Court stops GOP's seven-year campaign
against Obamacare 4/28/2020 Salon: "While Cruz's infamous stunt to
undermine the ACA by shutting down the government — complete with his 2013
reading of Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham" on the Senate floor — proved he was
willing to "troll the libs" at any cost, Rubio's less flashy legal assault was
meant to cement his status as the Obama-slayer. At the time, Rubio was still
making an attempt to burnish his Tea Party bonafides. As congressional
Republicans unsuccessfully voted to defund the ACA more than 50 times he went on
the warpath against an obscure portion of the law meant to safeguard
participating insurance companies against crippling financial loss as a result
of the new requirement to cover clients with pre-existing conditions."

Marco Rubio finds his next act 4/6/2020 Politico: "As chairman of the
usually sleepy Small Business Committee, Rubio has a key position in the
country’s response and recovery from the pandemic. His panel’s $377 billion
lifeline for small businesses is a linchpin of Congress’ $2 trillion economic
rescue package, and Rubio’s efforts are winning praise from Republicans and
Democrats alike even as implementation of the program remains deeply uncertain.
And his work may just be beginning: Rubio and his panel are likely to be called
upon again soon as the economy craters to provide more aid and potentially
improve the rescue law's signature Paycheck Protection Program."
Trump: US to deploy anti-drug Navy ships near Venezuela 4/1/2020 AP: "The
enhanced mission has been months in the making but has taken on greater urgency
following last week's indictment of Maduro, Venezuela's embattled socialist
leader, and members of his inner circle and military. They are accused of
leading a narcoterrorist conspiracy responsible for smuggling up to 250 metric
tons of cocaine a year into the U.S., about half of it by sea. “If I was just
indicted for drug trafficking by the United States, with a $15 million reward
for my capture, having the U.S. Navy conducting anti-drug operations off my
coast would be something I would worry about," said Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida
Republican who has been among those calling for a tougher stance against
Maduro."
Rubio: 'Now is not that time' to look into Trump's coronavirus failings 3/17/2020 American
Independent: "Now is the time to act, to keep this from being worse than it
needs to be, and we can't do that if we spend all our time taking political
potshots or arguing over ideological purity."
Did Marco Rubio Hire a Big-Sugar Tycoon's Grandson as an Intern? 1/21/2020 Miami
New Times: "Environmentalists and government watchdogs have been critical of the
family and the sugar industry at large. Excessive runoff of fertilizers and
pesticides from sugar farming have been blamed for likely irreversible pollution
in the Everglades, and two of the Fanjuls' major sugar giants — U.S. Sugar and
the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida — have fought attempts to force
them to pay to clean up the Glades. Environmentalists also partly blame
fertilizer runoff from sugar farming for foul-smelling toxic algae blooms that
have flooded Florida beaches in recent years and endangered the state's largest
industry, tourism. As the New York Times' "1619 Project" noted last year,
sugarcane farming has historically been one of the most exploitative and
grueling types of farm work in the nation's history; much of the work used to be
done by slaves. Since the Fanjuls rose to prominence in the '60s and '70s, the
vast majority of cane farming has been carried out by easily exploited
populations of immigrants. Lawsuits and critics have repeatedly accused the
Fanjul Corporation of operating unsafe farms and deporting workers who complain
— charges the company denies."
Bolivia: audios leaked from opposition leaders calling for a coup against Evo
Morales 11/10/2019 EN 24: "A series of 16 audios in which opposition
leaders call for a coup against the newly re-elected president Evo Morales were
leaked through various social platforms. Local media point out that the
destabilizing plan would have been coordinated by the United States Embassy in
Bolivia prior to the elections and cites US senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio,
who are said to have direct contact with the Bolivian opposition in the strategy
to overthrow Morales. The plan focuses on the fact that if Evo Morales won the
elections on October 20, a civil-military transition government would be
established. The new government would allege fraud in the electoral process and
would not recognize Morales' electoral victory."

Rubio, Scott Urge President Trump to Certify Colombia's Commitment to Combating
Illegal Drug Trade 8/5/2019 Marco Rubio: "U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL)
and Rick Scott (R-FL) today sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him
to certify to Congress that Colombia is fully committed to working with the
United States government on efforts to combat the illegal drug trade. The
Florida Senators believe Colombia, as one of the most proactive nations
countering narco-trafficking in the Western Hemisphere, should be certified as a
major partner in the fight against illicit drugs In the letter, the Senators
note that “[s]uccessive U.S. administrations have worked closely with Colombia’s
elected leaders and security forces to build the capacity of the Colombian
security forces, stem the flow of illicit trafficking, and interdict narcotics
bound for the U.S.” " [All such leaders have been closely tied to narcotics
traffickers.]
diputado."
How Trump Helps MS-13 5/10/2019 NYT: "Another remarkable fact: The United
States has not had an ambassador in Honduras for nearly two years. In this case,
the fault does not lie strictly with the Trump administration, which had
nominated career diplomat Francisco Palmieri to the job, but with Senator Marco
Rubio, who blocked Palmieri’s appointment because he wants a political
appointee. But the absence of an ambassador reflects the administration’s
broader failure to have anything resembling a policy anywhere in Latin America,
other than for Venezuela."
Campaign Demanding Marco Rubio's Resignation Storms Twitter 2/25/2019 teleSUR: "A

right-wing United States Senator from Florida posted a picture of the lynching
of former Libyan revolutionary leader Muammar Gaddafi as a death threat to
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro."
Venezuela."
Diosdado Cabello to Marco Rubio: Las Tienditas Bridge has Never Entered into
Operation 2/7/2019 Orinoco Tribune: "In his Twitter account, Republican
senator Marco Rubio tweeted that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro allegedly
moved containers to the bridge to “block the entry of humanitarian aid for the
people of Venezuela,” while the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, tweeted the
same photo saying that “the Venezuelan people desperately need humanitarian aid.
The United States and other countries try to help, but the Venezuelan military,
following orders from Maduro, is blocking the passage with trucks and fuel
tanks. ” In this regard, Cabello explained during his program Con El Mazo Dando
that “the Venezuelans and Colombians who live around that bridge know that this
bridge has never been used. It’s closed since 2016. ”
The Rubio doctrine: U.S. recognition of new Venezuelan leader is Florida
senator’s work 1/23/2019 Miami Herald: "“I went to the White House
yesterday and spoke with the president about what to do in Venezuela,” Sen. Rick
Scott said at a news conference on Wednesday. “We need to declare Venezuela as a
terrorist state. Clearly it is. The way Maduro has treated his citizens is
disgusting.”
Marco Rubio."
U.S. senators want probe of drug trafficking tied to Venezuela government 1/24/2018 Reuters: "In
a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions seen by Reuters, Republican
Senator Marco Rubio and Democrat Robert Menendez said they were concerned about
possible connections between Maduro’s government and drug trafficking
organizations and wanted an investigation “in order to better understand the
nexus between criminal actors and members of Maduro’s inner circle.” [We could
start by investigating both senators for their ties to narco politicians.]
It’s your Cuba policy, Miami Republicans. You can’t blame Obama now. 11/10/2017 Miami
Herald: "They must be applauding from Havana because the policy aimed to hurt
the government ensures quite a workload for them instead of the fledgling
entrepreneurial class, thanks to Trump and the Cuban Americans in Congress who
had a hand in pressuring Trump to abandon engagement. Miami’s Sen. Marco Rubio
and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart even used their votes on healthcare to negotiate with
Trump on Cuba. “Taking away people-to-people puts the trips back in the hands of
babysitters,” says Maria de los Angeles Torres, a Chicago-based Cuban-American
professor who has traveled to Cuba for research and family visits for decades."
CIA And Sen Marco Rubio Accused Of Plotting Regime Change In Venezuela 7/26/2017 Zero
Hedge: "Interim Ambassador to the Organization of American States Carmen
Velasquez also criticized US threats of sweeping sanctions during a nearly
two-hour discussion at the Venezuelan residency in Washington this week. For his
part, Rubio has warned of a “very strong response” from Trump if Venezuela goes
through with the “fraudulent vote,” vowing to recommend that a host of other
senior Venezuelan officials also face sanction."

Rubio has cozy relationship with sugar family 11/3/2016 TC Palm: "Despite
winning the Senate in 2010 on an anti-big government platform, Rubio is a
staunch defender of a federal program that artificially inflates sugar prices.
The Great Depression-era program sets quotas on imports and gives growers loans
they can repay with surplus sugar if prices fall near of below the loan rate.
The program has many opponents: environmentalists; manufacturers that use sugar
in their products, like candy makers; and the corn industry, which produces corn
syrup, a sugar substitute. Congress has voted to continue the program several
times with support from several Florida lawmakers. The sugar industry employs
14,000 to 15,000 people in Florida, and Rubio is prepared to eliminate the
program once other countries end their sugar subsidies, he said in a 2015 "Meet
the Press" interview."
Marco Rubio's Ties to a Drug-Smuggling Brother-in-Law Were Closer Than
Advertised 10/26/2016 Miami New Times: "Tabraue was a violent piece of
work. In 1980, his crew murdered a federal agent, Larry Nash, and Tabraue tried
to hack him to pieces with a machete before giving up and letting his cronies
use a circular saw instead. He was also charged with ordering a brutal hit on
his first wife, who was shot nine times. But he beat that case at trial. "Mario
was absolutely ruthless," says Fisten, who investigated the hit on Tabraue's
wife. "He had hired killers working for him all over South Florida.""
Major Trump supporter tied to Klan leadership 10/3/2016 Daily
Kos: "Billionaire sugar baron Pepe Fanjul’s executive assistant, Chloe Black, is
a fundraiser for Republican candidates such as Rubio and Donald Trump. She has
worked for the Fanjul’s for over 35 years and is a powerful player in the
secretive big sugar empire of the Fanjul family. She is the ex-wife of former
KKK leader David Duke, and the current wife of Don Black, a former KKK grand
wizard and member of the American Nazi Party. He now runs white-supremacist
website StormFront.org."
Rubio's "Cuban Mafia" connections in Miami-Dade 3/1/2016 Wayne
Madsen: "Florida Senator and GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio would have
never had a career in politics had it not been for a group of shady South
Florida Republican Cuban-American politicos who helped propel a young Rubio from
Tallahassee to Washington, DC."
Marco Rubio’s Ties to Sketchy Businesses, Drug Dealing and Ponzi Schemes 2/15/2016 Observer: "Mr.
Rivera and Mr. Rubio were also involved in another dubious deal in the mid-2000s
that is breathtakingly brazen even by Florida’s promiscuous standards and which
was partially unraveled over many years by a joint FBI/DEA task force. One of
the key figures in the scam was Alan Mendelsohn, a GOP lobbyist and fundraiser
who raised about $2 million that he funneled to numerous Florida politicians or
used for his personal benefit, according to his subsequent indictment. Of that
amount about $1.5 million came from a crooked businessman named Joel Steinger.
Steinger was the founder and CEO of a private company called Mutual Benefits
Corp., through which he pulled off a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme that targeted
elderly South Florida retirees and members of the state’s gay community. Mutual
Benefits Corp. also helped a South American drug cartel launder money, evidence
compiled by a the FBI/DEA task force showed."

Rebels: by Jason Nichols, Lecturer in African American Studies - "Last semester
I had a young man turn in an assignment in which students were instructed to
write to a current presidential candidate. This particular student had been
outspoken and one of the more socially aware and progressive students in the
class. He has a leadership position in a Latino fraternity, and often attempted
to find commonality between the plight of African Americans and people of Latino
(Latinx) origin."
The drug-smuggling case that brought anguish to Marco Rubio’s family 12/12/2015 WaPo: "While
the case was widely covered at the time, many details of Cicilia’s top-level
role in the smuggling operation have not been previously reported, in part
because they were stored in court files that were antiquated and difficult to
access, as well as in remote archives. Cicilia served as the “front man” in the
drug ring headed by Mario Tabraue, a kingpin who ran an exotic-animals business
and kept spotted leopards on the walled grounds of his mansion, according to
interviews and court records. Cicilia looked and sounded the part, wearing
paisley suits and rakishly calling cocaine “a pretty thing,” according to court
records and interviews with lead investigators."
Marco Rubio’s Billion-Dollar Sugar Addiction 11/13/2015 National
Review: "Writing for National Review, Windsor Mann was among those stumped by
Rubio’s logic. “Let’s try to untangle this,” he wrote following Rubio’s remarks.
“If we get rid of sugar subsidies, Americans will turn their sugar farms into
condominium lots and start buying sugar from foreigners, who will starve us
until we surrender to ISIS. Or something like that.” “We have as much reason to
grow our own sugar as Lithuania does to make its own cars: none,” Mann added.
“The fact is that other countries produce certain things more cheaply and
efficiently than we do. That is why we trade with them.”"
Marco Rubio needs to get past his sugar problem 11/3/2015 Washington
Examiner: "Rubio supports the federal sugar program, with its special cheap
loans and its blatant protectionism. This is to the detriment of U.S. consumers
and foodmakers, and to the benefit of a handful of sugar magnates, including
some of his earliest fundraisers. Amidst the jungle of crony capitalism,
corporate welfare, and federal boondoggles that Congress has created, the sugar
program may be the least defensible. Here's what it does: First, through
prohibitive tariffs, our government effectively limits the amount of
foreign-grown sugar allowed to enter the United States. By throttling imports,
government reduces the supply of sugar, thus increasing the price. In the U.S.,
raw sugar sold for 24.46 cents per pound in the third quarter of this year,
according to U.S.D.A. figures. In the rest of the world, the price was 11.29
cents per pound."

Sen. Marco Rubio Pushes Against Obama's Cuba Changes In Hearing 2/3/2015 NBC
The “Pure Evil” Hypocrisy - Marco Rubio’s Rabid Campaign Against Cuba 12/19/2014 CounterPunch: "Rubio
called these developments “another concession to a tyranny” rather than “a
defense of every universal and inalienable right that our country was founded on
and stands for.” But, how exactly does continuing the embargo and maintaining a
supercilious, egotistically aloof distance from Cuba sound an “American” defense
of its values abroad? Rubio averred, in sum, that “these changes…will
significantly set back the hopes of freedom and democracy for the Cuban people.”
To dismiss the revolutionary successes, though, to outright deny the bravery,
the endurance, the incredible struggle, and epic human perseverance of the Cuban
people in the face of one of history’s greatest instances of adversity reeks of
disrespect and unawareness. Ultimately, it gives voice to the pure evil of
Rubio’s anti-Cuban hypocrisy."
Sen. Rubio and Rep. Ros-Lehtinen: Change Cuba Policy or Give China Its Money
Back 12/18/2014 Daily Kos: "Sara Stephens, Director of the Center for
Democracy in the Americas, notes in Huffington Post a Story from the Tampa Bay
Times that details stances of the freedom loving, anti-communist stalwarts of
morality in Florida, Senator Marco Rubio and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen."
Chinese government pays for trip by aides to Rubio, Ros-Lehtinen 8/29/2014 Tampa
Bay Times: "Top aides to Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, two of
the most vehement anti-Communist voices in Washington, took an all expenses paid
trip to China this month courtesy of the Chinese government."
Statement on News That Sen. Rubio and Rep. Ros-Lehtinen Sent Senior Staff to
Communist China 8/29/2014 #CubaNow: “If there was any doubt that there has
been a huge shift in the political landscape in South Florida, this trip clearly
puts an end to it. America’s foreign policy should not be driven by a
head-in-the-sand approach, and we need our leaders in Washington to directly
engage with both allies and enemies alike in order to advance our best
interests. Despite their responses to the Tampa Bay Times article, Rubio and
Ros-Lehtinen’s senior staff trip to China shows that deep down they recognize
the value in people to people travel, even when it involves regimes with whom we
don’t agree, to promote better relations. We can’t effect positive change if we
continue to bench ourselves and stay on Cuba's sidelines. "We particularly
welcome the response from Senator Rubio’s office that travel and engagement is
‘necessary in helping advance our advocacy on a host of foreign policy issues.’"
Top Florida Republicans Are Nastier And More Vindictive Than You Thought,
Tell-All By Ex-State GOP Chair Says 8/18/2014 Altnernet: "Greer says U.S.
Sen. Marco Rubio is little better than an extortionist, taking fellow
Republicans to strip clubs and taking photos to subsequently bribe them. Is it
true? Greer wants us to believe him, and recent Republican Party of Florida
(RPOF) actions bolster his claims of skullduggery and high-flying Republicans."

with his mother and sister, Veronica - began reading the Book of Mormon.
Eventually, Marco, his sister Veronica and their mother were baptized as
Mormons. Marco converted [from Catholicism] to the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints with enthusiasm. ... Mario [Rubio's father], who had worked as
a bartender for years, couldn't embrace a faith that wouldn't let him drink and
