CubaCaribe Presents Cuba Camp Island style

Ramón Ramos Alayo Gathers Top Cuban Talent to Teach the Rhythms, Music
and Movement of the Island to Cuban Enthusiasts
What:
Cuba Camp Hawaii will be four days of workshops, activities and
celebration featuring internationally celebrated Cuban dancers and
musicians such as Ramón Ramos Alayo, Susana
Arenas Pedroso, Danis La Mora Perez, Sandy
Perez, Michael Spiro, Erick Barbaría and
others. The camp promotes the diverse and rich traditions of the
Afro-Caribbean Diaspora, specifically the music and dance rooted
throughout Cuba. The camp will share the culture and bring together a
diverse population. Simultaneous classes will focus on various Cuban
themes, including:Cuban popular dance (mambo, cha cha cha, son), Salsa,
Rueda de Casino, Changui, Cabaret, Cuban Modern, Afro-Cuban Folkloric
(Congo, Macuta, Palo, Yoruba), Afro-Haitian (Vodu, Gaga), Rumba, and West
African. Yoga will be offered each morning. Percussion classes will be in
Afro-Haitain, Afro-Yoruba, and Rumba. Song will focus on Afro-Cuban
folkloric.
Night events will feature live performances by Cuban dance instructors and
a dance party with a DJ, Cuban movies and outdoor Rumba with live music
and dancing.
When:
The 3rd annual Cuba Camp will take place from Friday December15 to Tuesday
December 19th 2006.
Where:
YMCA Camp Erdman located on the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii. This
campground is a YMCA Camp Erdman is set on 20 acres between the foothills
of the Waianae Mountains and the Ocean shoreline. This site is known for
its pristine beaches, mountain trails, dried waterfall bed, and glorious
ocean views.
Tuition:
If payment is received by SEPTEMBER 1: $395
If payment is received by NOVEMBER 1: $450
If payment is received after NOVEMBER 1: $500
AIRFARE NOT INCLUDED, but discounts may be available. Tuition includes 3
meals per day, accommodation, daily dance and percussion classes with
teachers from Cuba, extra activities such as hiking and dance parties.
Ocean front cabins are limited and we will make available on a first-come
first-serve basis.
