(later simply called the charanga) emerged, consisting of one wood flute..., two violins,
piano, contrabass, the timbales, and guiro. In the 1940's, the tumbadora (conga drum) was
added..." So begins Charanga Nueve's home page. This Bay Area group follows in the steps of major Cuban bands such as Charanga Habanera, which have been so popular in recent years. We wish them good luck! |
