Dear Friend of the Cuba Project/Bildner Center:

We would like to invite you to attend the film screening and workshop:

"Cuban Music in Cinema" with Rogelio Paris ICAIC

Rogelio Paris, the Cuban filmmaker, directed the pathbreaking "We are the Music," a documentary whose importance is recognized in the Lincoln Center Film Society's series "We are the Music: Cuban Musical Documentaries (September 13-19, www.filmlinc.com). Mr. Paris is a vibrant expositor, who will discuss his own works as well as other documentaries such as "Calle 54" and "Buena Vista Social Club." Don't miss his talk!

This gorgeous 1965 documentary was shot during one of the most vibrant moments in Cuban cinema and makes no concessions to white-bread images of Latin music or Cuba. A home-bred prequel to Buena Vista Social Club, with wonderful footage of some of Cuba’s greatest musicians, including Bola de Nieve, Celeste Mendoza, Chapottín, Joseíto and Milacho Rivera.

When: Tuesday, September 16, at 4:00 PM
Where: Martin Segal Theatre
