“Oriente López is one of the most important musicians to have left the island, after Paquito and Arturo. Although not as internationally known as these two at his moment of leaving Cuba, but well known among the musicians and public who love jazz. His is also a brilliant flautist. He was the director of the Jazz-Fusion Group AfroCuba in the era of maximum splendor of this group, the same era (198 8-90) in which this group accompanied Silvio Rodríguez when hemade the two best records of his career: “Causas y Azares” and “Oh,
melancolía.”

“Oriente López es uno de los músicos más importantes que se fue de la Isla después de Paquito y Arturo. Por supuesto, no es conocido mundialmente como sí lo eran ellos dos al momento de dejar Cuba, pero sí bien conocido entre los músicos y el público de jazz. Es además un flautista espeluznantemente bueno. El fue el director del grupo Afrocuba (jazz-fusión), justamente en el momento de máximo esplendor de ese grupo, además el grupo como tal, tuvo en esa misma época (entre en 1988 y 1990) un doble rol, pues eran el grupo
