Tony Cruz is a former DJ for KXLU 88.9 FM in Los Angeles where he
hosted "Alma del Barrio" for ten years
and worked as a local promoter of Latin American music. Tony is not only well
respected for his vast knowledge of the music industry, but also as the creator and
driving force for his own label, Mambo Express Productions which is
currently one of the most requested independent record labels. Mambo Express
Productions sold over 50,000 CDs worldwide in 1999. This figure is expected to
double in the year 2000 with the releases of numerous volumes, featuring new and exciting
artists. These artists bring their own dynamic interpretations to classic Cuban
music, and include groups such as Grupo Raison, Las Chicas Morenas, Havana Salsa, Los
Onix, Rumbavana, Ritmo Oriental, and the charanga sound of New York's La orquesta
Tipica Novel.
