La Esquina Habanera
Summit & 14th, Union, NJ

This was one of the best clubs in the country for Cuban music live from Cuba prior to the W years, along with SOB's and Nell's in NY and a couple of places in Miami.  Regrettably, it has closed its doors.

Every Sunday night they had a rumba led by David Oquendo, who participated in a historic encounter in July 2001 with the Efik from Nigeria, source of the Abakua tradition.

Also playing there was Roman Diaz, another participant in the Efik encounter.
