Juan Garcia Fernández

Juan Garcia is a choreographer and an ethnologist.   His work is based in a life spent as an artist working with the major folkloric groups. He was director of the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional, Cuba's premier national dance and music group, from 2000 to 2004. Prior to that he was the Assesor Folklorico of the Conjunto, the person who verifies the authenticity of the folkloric material.

Juan Garcia studied ethnology & folklore at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, Cuban Academy of Sciences

He has worked as:

Professor of Folklore
Professor of Fokloric Dance, Escuela Media Superior

Juan Garcia has traversed the different artistic levels as dancer, singer, and actor, accumulating the experience needed to interprete the various roles in the major classical works and in the repertory of the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional.
